Desert Island Discs started out as a BBC program in 1942 and is still running today
This makes it the longest running music program according to The Guinness Book of Records.

The general idea is to pick music that you would want to have with you if you were going to be stranded on an island somewhere

The version I remember was a take off bit on american radio, WNEW 102.7FM out of NY I think...

so I thought.. let's see if we can play that here...
